Parkland offers health tune up for men

Men's Health Conference to address physical, mental, spiritual health
Parkland Health & Hospital System will offer the fifth annual Men's Health Conference, "Tune Up the Whole Man, Mind-Body-Spirit," from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, June 7 at North Lake College, 5001 N. MacArthur Blvd., Irving.

All males ages 12 and up are invited to attend. The event will address men's spiritual, physical and mental health as well as lifestyle issues such as finances and family relationships.

"Although studies show that men live about five years less than women, we want to change that statistic. The Parkland Men's Health Conference will help us do that with health information specifically for men, group doctor visits, many screenings and support services," said Marcene Royster, Director of Community Services at Parkland.

Keynote and panel sessions will address a variety of discussions and seminars throughout the day in English and Spanish.

Group visits with physicians will be available. Information about men's health concerns and resources in Dallas County will also be available at no cost. In addition, men will be able to have various health screenings such as cholesterol, glucose, blood pressure, glaucoma and prostrate cancer, among others.

There is no cost to attend the conference. For more information, call 214-266-1232.
