Parkland CEO one of 'most powerful physician executives'
DALLAS- For the fifth consecutive year, Dr. Ron Anderson, Parkland Health & Hospital System's president and chief executive officer, has been named to Modern Healthcare magazine's "50 Most Powerful Physician Executives in Healthcare." He is 18th on the magazine's annual ranking.

Dr. Anderson has been named to this list each of the five years that it has been published by Modern Healthcare and its sister publication, Modern Physician. He was voted the top physician executive by the magazines in 2005.

Dr. Anderson began working at Parkland as a resident in 1973. He went on to serve as Parkland's medical director for ambulatory care and emergency services and became chief executive officer in 1982. He now leads Parkland toward a major milestone as plans are made for construction of a new hospital to open in 2014.

"We are entering a critical juncture in the health care landscape, at Parkland with a new hospital and across our nation with the possibility of major changes in policy. I am honored to be in the position to help lead us into the future as these decisions are being made," Dr. Anderson said. "However this recognition shouldn't be for me, but for all of Parkland's more than 9,000 employees who work hard every day to fulfill our mandate to serve our community."

The list and accompanying articles appear in the May 11 issues of Modern Physician and Modern Healthcare. The complete article is available at www.modernhealthcare.com.
