Gay and Lesbian Fund fundraiser to support program |
DALLAS - Parkland Foundation, on behalf of Parkland Health & Hospital System, has been named beneficiary of the fourth annual Gay and Lesbian Fund for Dallas (GLFD) fundraiser. The event will take place March 24, 2007 at the Old Red Courthouse, 100 South Houston Street, in Dallas.
Ron J. Anderson, M.D., Parkland's president and chief executive officer, will be joined by Veletta Forsythe Lill, chairperson of the board of directors of Parkland Foundation, as honorary co-chairs of the event.
"We are grateful to the Gay and Lesbian Fund for Dallas for choosing Parkland as the beneficiary of their major fundraiser," said Lill. "We believe in the mission of this organization and are honored to receive their donation and serve as honorary chairs for the fundraising event."
The Gay and Lesbian Fund for Dallas was established by Enrique MacGregor and Mark Niermann in 2001 as a nonprofit organization to support community organizations that enhance the quality of life in Dallas and promote equality for all people. Since its inception, GLFD has awarded more than $500,000 to Dallas agencies in the areas of cultural arts, parks, education, family health and public broadcasting.
"We are proud that Parkland recognizes the diverse population by offering employment and medical services to all people. We are happy to help them continue their great progress," said Niermann.
"Parkland's importance cannot be overstated. They provide care for thousands of people and they consistently rank high among U.S. hospitals in several areas," added MacGregor. "Our spring fundraiser is a great opportunity for our diverse community to make a visible contribution to an institution that is essentially in the business of saving lives."
Parkland Foundation is a 501(3)(c) organization dedicated to securing substantial financial resources that advance the clinical, educational and research quests of Parkland Health & Hospital System.
